Setelah hampir setahun tanpa kabar akibat dampak dari pandemi Covid19, akhirnya Nominasi The Game Awards 2021 resmi diumumkan. Pada ajang The Game Awards sebelumnya, The Last of Us Part 2 sukses mengambil tempat sebagai game terbaik untuk tahun 2020.
