Tak memungkiri dalam 3 dekade belakangan (2000-2020), kian banyak saja pegulat profesional yang menggunakan lagu dari penyanyi atau band (rata-rata band sih) baik yang top, semi top, atau independen sebagai lagu tema dan masuk ring mereka (entrance music).
ECW dan ROH
Malah kalau mau ditarik mundur 1 dekade lagi alias 90an, tren ini sudah ada. Namun kala itu memang hanya sedikit banget. Spesifiknya hanya promosi independen saja dan promosi ke-3 terbesar dan ter-ekstrim di zamannya, Extreme Championship Wrestling (ECW).
Atau di promosi independen terbesar, Ring of Honor (ROH) yang mana kala itu (bahkan sampai sekarang) banyak pegulatnya yang menggunakan lagu-lagu Rock, Metal, atau Pop yang sudah ngetop sebagai lagu masuk ring pegulatnya.
Nah melihat fakta tersebut, secara perlahan tapi pasti, pegulat-pegulat di promosi terbesar, World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE), juga mulai banyak yang melakukan hal serupa. Dan salah satunya adalah pegulat top kontroversial yang ketika tulisan ini dibuat, baru balik lagi ke WWE, CM Punk.
CM Punk Cult of Personality
Ya di episode program WWE RAW tanggal 25 Juli 2011, CM Punk yang kala itu memegang sabuk kejuaraan WWE (WWE Championship) datang menginterupsi John Cena yang baru saja mengalahkan Rey Mysterio untuk menjadi juara WWE juga.
Kalau bingung, intinya nanti di perhelatan program Pay Per-View (PPV) Summerslam 2011, Punk dan Cena akan bertanding dalam format pertandingan WWE Champion VS WWE Champion. Nah nantinya yang menang pertandingannya ia akan didapuk sebagai juara WWE yang sesungguhnya.
Anyway ketika Punk meng-interupsi Cena, entrance music yang digunakannya kala itu adalah lagu masuk ring barunya, ‘Cult of Personality’ yang dibawakan oleh Living Colour.
Dan semenjak itu, lagu ini selalu terasosiasikan dengan pegulat bernama asli Phill Brooks ini. Oke deh setelah mengetahui semuanya ini, yuk mari kita rayakan kembalinya Punk ke WWE dengan mendengar dan menyanyikan lagi lagunya berikut ini.
