Jason Momoa, the actor who plays Aquaman has opened up about the rumors that he will be playing Lobo in James Gunn’s DC Universe James Gunn.

The DC Extended Universe (DCEU) officially ends with Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom (2023). However, we will soon be introduced to the DC Universe (DCU), the new DC movie universe. The DCU will be fully managed by DC Studios led by James Gunn and Peter Safran.

Since the DCU is a new universe, Gunn and Safran decided to look for different actors to play DC characters in it.

Therefore, most DCEU actors will not return to play their characters in the DCU. This means that Jason Momoa will most likely not return to play Aquaman in the DCU.

Jason Momoa wants to Play Lobo in DC Universe

Although Momoa will not be returning to the role of Aquaman, speculations have surfaced that Momoa is being groomed to play the role of Lobo in the DCU.

Even in January 2023, Momoa gave a hint that he would be involved in the DCU, although did not reveal what character he would be playing. After the release of Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom, Momoa finally spoke up about the rumors of him becoming Lobo in the DCU.

In his interview with Fandango, Momoa revealed that he has an interest in collecting comics and Lobo is his favorite character.

“I used to collect comics and Lobo was always my favorite. I always wanted to play Lobo because it was the perfect role. If they (DC Studios) ask me to play Lobo, I will definitely accept. However, I haven’t gotten the call yet, so I don’t want to spread fake news. What is clear is that I am ready if they ask me.” he said.

Jason Momoa has neither officially acknowledged nor denied the rumors about him possibly playing the role of Lobo in the DCU. Although he said that there has been no offer, Momoa would not turn down the opportunity to play Lobo.
